When Two Planets Collide - A Celestial Styled Shoot
Have you every been in a planetarium watching the planets and stars roll overhead and thought to yourself...."this would be awesome for a wedding ceremony..." Well if you haven't before, hopefully this styled shoot inspires that thought now!
3 different looks for personal flower combos (bouquets and boutonnieres). The celestial theme for the ceremony inspired the 3 looks. A simple and ethereal white bouquet with a matching boutonniere using black and white florals and accents of dried pieces. A star bouquet (notice the little tiny flowers glued to the trailing ribbons) and a matching moon boutonnière was accented with a few coordinating dried florals. Lastly a colorful bouquet dubbed the "Mars and Jupiter" bouquet where the brightness of the planets reflected in the florals.
The dry bones, desert landscape of the reception tablescapes were inspired by the museums fossil collection and whale skeleton above. Dried florals and skeletal mosses kept things very simple with a neutral palette of creams, whites and black accents. The black tipped protea brought a nod to the celestial theme, just like the juxtaposition of the stars on the night sky.
The ceremony's star piece was a moon made of dried floral and accented with twinkle lights. We created an ethereal and mystical scene playing with dark draping, puffs of "cloud-like" batting and artfully placed twinkle lights. The photographer artfully captured the scenes with the difficult lighting, making the couple seem like they were truly standing right under the majesty of the heavens.
This collaborative opportunity was an amazing way to flex some creative muscles with an amazing team of talent.
