2024 Spring Styled Shoot - Emeralds in the spring
Modern, springtime, art deco, yellow and green….Those are the main words I would use to describe the vision for this shoot. I was inspired by the geometric lines, glamour and colors of the art deco design style. The era it inspired fit perfectly with the venue, built around the turn of the century. The globe lights, marble, fine craftsmanship architectural details and metalwork on these historic spaces was the perfect setting for this shoot. Bringing in luscious foliage in emerald greens and vivid yellows brought spring to life in the ceremony space. The ghost chairs allowed the space and florals to shine. Beautiful, vibrant springtime blooms in the aisle prices, bouquets and hair accented the fashion choices of velvet, pearls and hip-hugging silhouettes. Touches of yellow in the menswear also reinforced the color palette, always in unexpected ways. I wanted the color accents to be just that, bold and u unexpected to create that visual interest and frivolity. The florals were inspired by spring forsythia. Even though the shoot was a little late for local blooming forsythia, it was still the driving inspiration and I used similar blooms to create the same effect. Oncidium orchids, snapdragons, delphinium, feverfew, statice, local flowering branches and butterfly ranunculus incorporated into lush huckleberry, ruscus and olive branches created the desired bushy effects. There were also plenty of moments of fine floral work, pin-frog arrangements, low ground florals and lamp wreaths. These arrangements were floral heavy, loaded with spring blooms in glorious yellow tones. Yellow is such a sign of the end of winter, signaling regrowth and new life and it was used in excess here. Blooms of tulips, daffodils, hellebores, roses, ranunculus, stock, sweet peas, lily of the valley and peonies. And we can’t forget the beautiful non-floral elements like the glorious cake, which brought together all those art deco essentials like marble, bands of gold and geometrical in the yellow, emerald gold and black color palette, surrounded by a meadows of lush foliage and flower accents. The table was laid with a shimmering satin cloth and set with accents of cut glass, black and gold, keeping it bold always. Flickering ribbed candlelight danced around the flowers and played off all the textures of that beautiful tables. The guest seating chart was another area of emphasis, incorporating the color palette and art deco feel with wallpaper, wax seals and hand calligraphy. An overflowing floral arrangement and accent corner spray paired with a few candles and champagne flutes came together for another moment of luxury and drama. But of course, I didn’t want the whole thing to feel too themey or vinstage, so I made sure to bring in more modern elements like those streamlined black goblets, a simple bridal gown, ghost chairs and clean-lined gold lamps on the cocktail tables with touch controls.
