Something Blue
Abby and Ross were my first "COVID couple." Yes, that phrase has become a thing this year....2020 has not been easy on brides, grooms and their families trying to navigate wedding planning during a pandemic. Abby and Ross changed their plans several times as the situation unfolded and our state began to open up. The week before their wedding, I received the news that they were able to hold their wedding as planned at their dream venue with a smaller guest count. I can't tell you how excited everyone was for so many reasons: the couple to be getting married at their venue where Ross had proposed, the family to see their baby girl have her wedding day, vendors to be able to work again, guests able to attend a wedding.... All in all, the celebration was jubilant, to say the least!
The Truer Design team had some serious hustle that day. We set up the grand staircase with greenery and candles and swagged the balcony with a garland for Abby and Ross' first look. After the first look, we quickly moved the balcony garland to the chapel doors for the ceremony and reused all the staircase greenery to decorate the tent. After the ceremony, we moved all the flowers and greenery over to the tent. That garland was reused 3 times! We had plenty of lush greens to highlight the couple as they moved throughout their day from first look, to wedding vows, to grand entrance into their reception and behind their head table.
Abby chose a classic palette of whites and dark foliage with subtle hints of dusty and dark blues. It was classy, simple and perfect. Instead of spending a ton on her centerpieces (usually the budget killer), we went simple and elegant on the tables with candles, greenery and bud vases, and the majority of the budget was spent in signature areas like the ceremony entrance, tent entrance and behind the head table to make a big impact. We used eleagnus vine, eucalyptus, ruscus, anemones, thistle, lisianthus, delphinium, stock and roses to create an elegant statement with florals.
